The Marshall Mansion is a super large cage measuring 54 inches in height, 25 inches in width and 37 inches in length. As such, you should make sure that you have the space for it at home before spending your money on this one. Yes, it is a large chinchilla cage and your pet will have plenty of space to move around. It is a luxury given how large an area your chinchilla will have to live.
But apart from the size, there is one more thing that make it suitable for a chinchilla. Unlike many other chinchilla cages out there that have plastic parts, this one uses wire shelves and ramps. So, in that sense, your chinchilla will have no plastics to chew on to cause health problems later on.
However, because the shelves and ramps are grids, you have to put liners on them so that your chinchilla’s feet will not get caught. This is the extra you will have to do if you are getting this cage. The other thing you might want to include are more shelves and ramps given how big this cage is. It can be a waste of space if no extras are added because this cage is capable of taking much more.
The Marshall Mansion is also a folding cage that snaps on for assembly. You don’t need special tools to set it up because it comes pre-assembled with metal hinges. When taken out of the box, you just need to unfold it and the cage will snap into place with a few places for you to screw it tight. But with its large size and weight, you may need two persons to hold it up during the setting up phase.
There are 3 doors for this cage but beware that given its size, sometimes, you can have a hard time accessing your pet. The cage also has 4 casters for mobility.
The bottom part is a pull out plastic tray. If there is an improvement that should be made to the Marshall Mansion, it would be this tray because it is just not deep enough to hold things in. So, be prepared to clean up around the cage often because your chinchilla will most likely make a mess out of the area.
Even though there are drawbacks to the Marshall Mansion, it is one of the few large chinchilla cages that are worth investing in. So, if you are looking to give your pet a luxurious living space, then this cage is one that is worth a more serious look.
